Zombie Bait Recipe | An Appetizer For All To Enjoy!

Zombie bait appetizer

This is sure to attract both zombies and the living!  It’s a simple appetizer that you can make in advance and in your crockpot!

  • 1 jar of pasta sauce
  • 1lb. ground beef
  • Garlic, green pepper, onion to taste
  • Fresh mozzarella bite size balls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • Extra veggies if like, like zucchini & eggplant : )
  • Red food dye
  • Bread & veggies for dipping

  1. In the crockpot (or large pot) brown up the ground beef, pepper, onion and garlic. Reserve a small slice of green pepper for garnish. Drain well.
  2. Add in any extra veggies for more flavor : )
  3. Pour in half the jar of pasta sauce cook until the veggies are tender (I left mine in the crockpot for 4 hrs.).
  4. When you are ready to serve add in dye for a more deep red color.
  5. Add in the shredded mozzarella and stir until the cheese is melted through the sauce.
  6. If needed, add some of the extra sauce until a good dip consistency is achieved.
  7. Take the mozzarella balls and push a small piece of pepper into the center to make an eye
  8. Place the mozzarella balls into the sauce.
  9. Remove from heat or turn to the crockpot temperature to warm.

That’s it! You are now ready to lure some zombies!   I’ve made both this meat version and an all veggie using marinara sauce.  Both were a hit.  The chunky body parts (meat/veggies) and stringy skin and eyes (mozzarella) are sure to get some looks.  But, I promise it tastes good – as long as you like pasta sauce and cheese! : P

For dipping we used breadsticks shaped like bones.  If you happen to have any left over (which I doubt) you can add your favorite noodles, the extra sauce and make a yummy baked pasta!

***Also, try not to add the mozzarella too early before serving.  I made mine in advance, once, and it turned my cheese pink – lol.
